2010 Horseshoe Crab Monitoring & Tagging Dates!!! Greetings fellow Bayshore Watershed folks & friends, IMPORTANT: PLEASE PASS THIS EMAIL ON TO ALL INTERESTED FRIENDS & FAMILY. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!! It is that time of year again when the Bayshore Watershed Council starts preparing for another Horseshoe Crab Monitoring & Tagging season in May & June. We have our NJDEP permit now in hand, so we are ready to go! I hope you will be able to join us this year. Last season was not only interesting, but a really fun and worthwhile time. Please consider joining us this May & June. Below are the dates, times & locations for the upcoming HSC monitoring & tagging season: TRAINING: Thursday, April 29th, 7pm - TRAINING. This year, training will take place at Conaskonck Point Park in Union Beach, situated right along Raritan Bay . The park is located where Front Street & Dock Street meet. There is a gravel parking lot. Training should not take more than an hour. MONITORING & TAGGING DATES: Friday, May 14th, 8:30pm Thursday, May 27th, 8pm Saturday, June 12, 8:30pm Saturday, June 26th, 8:30pm Monitoring Locations & Beach Captains 1) Plum Island at Sandy Hook: Beach Captain will be Christine Bell from Brookdale Community College 2) The mouth of Many Mind Creek in Atlantic Highlands: Beach Captain will be Joe Reynolds 3) Leonardo Beach along Beach Avenue. Beach Captain will be Joe Martin 4) Conaskonck Point Park in Union Beach, at the end of Front Street. Beach Captain will be Marissa Weber 5) Cliffwood Beach, Aberdeen Township. Beach Captain will be Christine Balint. We will need about 5 volunteers per site to help count and tag Horseshoe Crabs. Just like last year, if you have a cordless drill please bring one. We will need it. Also, bring plenty of flashlights. Any questions, please let me know. Otherwise, please pass this email on to any and all interested friends & family. Unfortunately, my computer crashed in November, so I lost quite a few names & email address of people that volunteered last year. So, please help me out.
