Greetings fellow Horseshoe Crab Monitoring folks, Just a quick reminder, our second HSC monitoring and tagging date is set for this Thursday evening, May 27th at 8:00pm. The event is rain or shine! We should be done no later than 9:00pm. Please be on time and check in with your beach captain. Please make sure to bring a cordless drill if you have one and tape a 5/32” drill bit up 1/8" from the tip to tag the crabs. Also, we will need measuring tape and rulers. Moreover, make sure to wear the appropriate clothes for the weather. Bring a clipboard, pen or pencil, and an accurate wristwatch. Make sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp. Headlamps are preferred because they free up both hands. Work gloves may be useful to hold crabs. Also, please wear shoes – No bare feet! We recommend water-shoes, old sneakers, or boots. The weather is predicted to be nice! I look forward to a fun and productive crab monitoring event this Thursday evening. We should find more crabs this time, as we enter the height of Horseshoe Crab spawning!!! Below is a list of locations and beach captains.
