Sewage discharged from recreational vessels contributes substantially to degraded water quality in From shellfish to humans, any organism dependent on our local waters for home, habitat, or food are all negatively affected from untreated vessel-generated sewage. Pumping out a boat’s holding tank via a pumpout boat contributes to keeping our local bay waters clean, healthy, and aids in the protection of our fish, shellfish, and wildlife populations. We ask for you to lend your support to the establishment of a Pumpout Boat for Raritan Bay - Sandy Hook Bay. Help us build and operate an important environmental initiative that will make our home waters cleaner. Pumpout Boats make it convenient for boaters to empty their holding tanks in an environmentally acceptable manner. This reduces water pollution, such as fecal coliform and bacteria that is often found in raw sewage, and lowers various health risks to the public from contaminated water.
