Although I have not kept in touch with most of our committee a small number of us have been meeting with the Baykeeper and others.
We have received financial commitments from Atlantic Highlands, Middletown, Keansburg, Union Beach, Keyport, and Aberdeen to share maintenance cost for the five years required by the Ocean Consortium, et al.
We have met to discuss and prepare a brochure on our project and it is now in the preparation phase.
We traveled to Tuckerton Seaport to see and ride in the new turn key pump out boat they have just purchased. It is a 23 ft., fiberglass skiff, with all the equipment necessary to perform sewage pump outs. It hold 450 gal. with the tank under the decks of the craft. A 200hp. Mercury four stroke engine. Cost approx. $80,000.00
We met last night at the Baykeepers office in Keyport and Andy Wilner offered a proposal of a 25 ft skiff hull, capable of receiving 250 gal tanks, new Yanmar 190 hp diesel, completely refurbished for a cost of approx. $40,000.00.
We all agreed this would be the way to go if we can get it moving. It would be available next summer.
Andy Wilner, Tracy Dell, and myself intend to appear before the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders in early August to request financial support for our project. We shall see how it all turns out.
Keep posted, as we may need your help.
