| brown algae in Bay 6-10-2008 To Bayshore Council members:
We just observed what seems to be thick brown algae outside the Clean Ocean Action office in Sandy Hook Bay. See attached photos [below]. I'm running out to look around Sandy Hook (to the oceanside) to see if the tide has brought it out there. Called the Monmouth County Health Department and they are doing lab tests on water taken from the Shrewsbury last night--where they observed 6-inch thick brown algae and 77 degree water temperatures. The water is cookin' out there, FAST.
Please keep a look-out for brown algae and fish kills in the bayshore region...call the Monmouth County Health Department with observations (and COA, if you want to give us an update).
