Route 516 Demolitions
The 3 houses on the south side of Route 516 between the Quik Check and Lake Lefferts were being demolished, I stopped by the Aberdeen Building Dept. to ask who was responsible.

An email from Paul R. of Aberdeen:

As both Peter and Jim noticed the 3 houses on the south side of Route 516
between the Quik Check and Lake Lefferts were being demolished, I stopped by the
Aberdeen Building Dept. to ask who was responsible.

The official word is that "Aberdeen Wilson Associates", the underlying landowner
of the majority of the Aberdeen Forge tract, paid for the demolition. I was also
informed that Aberdeen Township put pressure on this owner to demolish these
houses as they were a hazard, and if Aberdeen was to demolish them, the cost
would then have to be recouped from the landowner.

There is no word on any new redeveloper being interested in acquiring rights to
the land, however the landowner did send an attorney to the Aberdeen Planning
Board earlier this year to obtain a 2-year extension to the exisiting site plan.
We will attempt to obtain more information and keep you informed.

By the way, Aberdeen Wilson Associates, which is really just Harry Reider, has moved from a Highland Park to a Bridgewater address.
